Free Alternative to Xbox Live - XLink Kai
Xlink Kai, which is a free alternative to Xbox Live now officially supports Xbox360s. So, if you don’t want to upgrade your silver membership then give this service a try. I’ve used it without any problems on my modded Xbox and I can definitely recommend it. It offers similar functionality to Xbox Live in that it supports chat, matching and Tags (XTags as opposed to GamerTags).
I spotted a few other interesting Xbox360 stories today:
- CNET used a power meter to investigate the cause of the Xbox360s power problems. They discovered that the Xbox360 amazing draws 2x the power of an Xbox and 3x the power of an PS2. I guess I won’t be leaving my Xbox360 on standby!
- The Register reports that UK Retailer Game is looking into allegations that some of it’s store manager snapped up their allocations of Xbox360s themselves and are flogging them on eBay. One listing on eBay brags that:
“I have 8 units for sale, these were obtained from a store of which I am the manager, receipt will be supplied for your guarantee, just return to any branch of ‘game’”, said the auction details. “I am open to reasonable offers to end the auction early.”
If true, that is really low.
